Now in its sixth generation, the original Kamleika stretch waterproof was first released in 2005 and quickly gained a loyal following, along with more than a few imitators. Renowned for its unmatched next-to-skin comfort, freedom of movement, and protection in harsh conditions, the Kamleika has been specifically designed to meet the demands of mountain runners.
The Kamleika takes its name from the garment traditionally worn by the Aleut people of the high Arctic along the shores of the Bering Sea. While modern versions are no longer constructed from sea otter innards, the inspiration remains the same. Like the Aleuts, mountain runners need a waterproof, protective layer that is lightweight, packable, unrestrictive, and able to move naturally with the body.
The fifth generation of Kamleika introduced a tough nylon face fabric, while the sixth generation features a PFAS-free membrane and PFC-free DWR treatment. These updates have significantly reduced the environmental impact of the jacket’s manufacture and use, eliminating the need for so-called “forever chemicals” that are harmful to the natural world, without compromising performance in the harshest conditions.
SOFTSHELL COMFORT, WATERPROOF PERFORMANCE
With 4-Way stretch, soft feel and great breathability, the Kamleika fabric looks, feels and even sounds like a softshell but with the fully waterproof membrane, taped seams and DWR, it offers the waterproof protection needed to move confidently in bad weather.
C-ZERO CONSTRUCTION
Using a PFC-free DWR and a PFAS-free membrane has removed the long-chain carbons and forever chemicals from the manufacture and use of the Kamleika, reducing the environmental impact of the fabric whilst maintaining the performance we demand from it.
MOUNTAIN FEATURES IN A RUNNING JACKET
The Kamleika offers the enhanced features of a mountain shell in a running jacket. With Fully adjustable cuffs and integrated thumbloops, dynamic droptail, fully adjustable wired and laminated hood plus 2 hand pockets and YKK AquaGuard zips, the Kamleika does not skimp on the extras without tipping the scales.
